Local language tech platform VerSe Innovation, which is the parent company of news aggregator Dailyhunt and short-video platform Josh, has raised $100 million in Series H funding led by global investors Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), the sovereign wealth fund of the State of Qatar, and Glade Brook Capital Partners. The round also saw participation from Canaan Valley Capital and existing investor Sofina Group.

The investment came shortly after the tech platform raised another $100 million from Google, Microsoft, and AlphaWave in December 2020.
Josh 軟件是DailyHunt對付抖音的頭牌，近年來因給流行短視頻提供平臺而備受青睞。在印度禁止抖音之后不久，Josh才顯露出頭，也是利用了這個機遇和真空期。
Josh is DailyHunt’s take on TikTok – which gained phenomenal popularity in recent years for providing a platform for trendy short videos. Josh emerged shortly after India imposed a ban on China’s TikTok, seizing an opportunity amid a vacuum.

According to VerSe Innovation, Josh is the “fastest growing and most engaged short-video app” in India, which currently has over 85 million monthly active users, 40 million daily active users and over 1.5 billion video plays per day.
Josh背后還有oldman Sachs, Lupa Systems, Matrix Partners India, Sequoia Capital India, Falcon Edge Capital 和Omidyar Network這樣的投資人。
這款軟件在進入之后，語言選擇有英文和其他印度語言。
內容上，可以說是完全照抄抖音，可以說是抖音的翻版。上方也有關注（Following）,推薦（For you）,界面設計，心形點贊，分享的箭頭樣式，就連內容還有大量中國抖音的視頻，背景音樂等等。
投資者看中的不是印度的技術，看中的是印度的人多。
